“I wasn’t sure that acupuncture was going to be right for me.  Let’s face it, no one really likes needles and the whole process seemed very cryptic.  Well, I was wrong.  The needles don’t hurt at all and acupuncture healed my shoulder so I no longer needed the surgery that my orthopedic was recommending.   The calm and soothing environment at Essential Mind and Body put me right at ease and their professional staff and service providers made me feel like I was in good hands.  Highly recommend.” –Ryan

“Do’s and Dont’s” for me on the day of treatment.

The following guidelines will help you get the most benefit from an acupuncture treatment:

  • Do not eat an unusually large meal immediately before or after your treatment.

  • Avoid over-exercising, engaging in sexual activity, or consuming alcoholic beverages within 6 hours before or after the treatment.

  • Plan your activities so that after the treatment you can get some rest, or at least not have to be working at top performance. This is especially important for the first few visits.

  • Continue to take any prescription medicines as directed by your regular doctor. Substance abuse (drugs and alcohol), especially in the week prior to treatment, can seriously interfere with the effectiveness of acupuncture treatments.

  • Remember to keep good mental or written notes of what your response is to the treatment and share them with your acupuncture physician. This is important for your physician to know so that follow-up treatments can be designed to best help you achieve your health goals.
